Friends, today in this article we will learn about the ash handling method through pneumatic conveyor system. I am going to give information about all this in a very good way. So let’s start.
Pneumatic method
The general arrangement of this method is shown in the picture. Under this, ash and dust particles come out from all parts of the boiler plant with a high velocity air stream.
First of all, the ash of the boiler furnace comes to the crusher and then enters the air pipe in the form of fine particles. Air is sucked from the atmosphere in the pipe by an exhaust fan, which is installed at the end of this system as shown in the picture. Flowing in the air pipe, both ash and air pass through primary and secondary separators where the ash is completely separated from the air and gets collected in the ash-hopper and is transported to the place of use by trucks. The air coming out of the secondary passes through a filter and after getting cleaned goes out into the atmosphere. In this method, the rate of ash disposal is 5 to 30 tonnes per hour.
Advantages of pneumatic method
(i) Ash and dust do not flow in a closed pipe, hence pollution occurs.
(ii) Ash disposal takes place in a completely dry state, hence it does not stick to pipes, hoppers, etc. during ash flow.
(iii) Less space is occupied by the pipeline.
(iv) There is sufficient flexibility in this system, hence the changed condition of the boiler plant does not have any adverse effect on the functioning of this system.
Disadvantages of pneumatic method
(i) There is a high possibility of breakage in the hopper and pipeline, due to which its maintenance cost is high.
(ii) There is more noise in this method.
