Describe natural and pressurized air in dry type transformer?

Friends, today in this article we will learn  about dry type transformers. I am going to give you information about all this in a very good way. So let’s start.

Dry Type Transformer –

(i) Natural air-

In this type of cooling system the temperature of the transformer is cooled/reduced naturally by air.

The hot air is cooled by replacing it with cold air through natural convection or by blowing it on the body of the transformer. This is suitable only for transformers up to 1.5 MVA.

(ii) Pressurized air –

In this, the temperature is reduced by forcing or pressurizing the air. Using fans and blowers, air is forced onto the core in a pressurized manner and its temperature is reduced.

As soon as the temperature of the transformer rises beyond a specified limit, the alarm and relay circuits switch on the fan and blower. This is used only for transformers rated up to 15MVA.

What did you learn today :-

Now you must have known about dry type transformer and you must have got the answer to all these questions well.
